10th July – 30th September 2003

Exhibit 3 is a very exciting display of innovative work with a truly
international flavour. Digital Artists from all corners of the globe have
submitted work to this. The theme for this exhibit is design and as such, we feel, it will have appeal for a broad audience.

High calibre work from Canada, Tasmania, Japan, USA, Ireland, UK , Asia
and Europe, across a broad range of disciplines is on display. The exhibits
are very varied and include video installations, computationally enabled
garments, interactive objects, dynamic online publishing and visualization
software.

Edge Town by Ben Hooker & Shona Kitchen/UK
Through architecture and design proposals, our work explores the
consequences of data landscapes merging with real spaces.
Toward Comfort by Clifton Evans/Canada
The making, method and madness of an emotive language learning system: The interface acts as a connector between cultures and a common ground for communities of similar interests.
Interaction Design by Royal College of Art/London
The Department of Interaction Design explores the role of technology in people’s lives and imaginations. Essentially, the course represents an alliance between electronics and the humanities.

Research Thinking Studio: Radical Thinking, Feasible Design/London
The teaching, our research, our designs – all are as much about
culture and society as about emerging technologies.

Savant by DCU Masters/Ireland
Savant is an interactive, artistic interpretation of the autistic and savant experience.

Design Chapel – Robert Lindström/Sweeden
Designchapel "utilizes flash in a noticeable and meaningful way, these sites speak for themselves"

Monsters of Time by Eunjung Hwang/Korea
Monsters of Time is a video installation of visual novelty combined with fanciful narratives, utilizing small-scale LCD monitors and light projection.

Urban Chameleon by Fionnuala & Katherine Moriwaki/Ireland & USA
Urban Chameleon envisions a fashion-forward future where clothing remains supple, and reactions are embedded directly into clothing, suggesting alternative behavioural response.

The Drop by Glenn Marshall/Northern Ireland
A dreamlike animated descent of baby dolls through cloud worlds, conception and mortality, based on a song by Peter Gabriel.

Genomixer by Stanza/UK
An interactive online installation

Moments of Grey by Dr Robin Petterd/Tasmania
Moments of Grey is the outcome of a speculative project that researched and developed prototype responsive objects which evoke what might be found near the sea.

DIFFUSION eBooks are a dynamic online publishing format engaging readers in a new relationship of producing and consuming ideas and knowledge.

The Visual Thesaurus is a visual representation of the English Language.
