Visual Art Curator and/or Art Writer’s Studio 2011
Each year, Temple Bar Gallery and Studios allocates one of its project studios for specific and dedicated use by a visual art curator(s) and/or art writer(s) to support the research, planning and development of new creative projects in the subsequent year. Applications are invited from curators and art critic/writer(s) who are actively engaged with contemporary visual art culture Ireland and internationally. The Curator/Art Writer’s Studio is set-up to support independent curators and art writers in extending their enquiry and research into the contemporary visual art culture. While welcoming projects that focus on an individual’s curatorial or art writing practice, collaborative or joint applications are also welcomed. Similarly, proposals made on the basis of public projects, collaborative projects or education and community activity will also be considered. In 2011, the successful candidate will be presented with opportunities for travel and research and potential collaborations with the curatorial panel and programming team at Temple Bar Gallery and Studios.
Applications
The Curator and/or Art Writer’s Studio will be awarded on a project basis for 1 year. Applications will be assessed on the basis of a specific proposal(s) that should be accompanied by an outline work plan for the use of the studio. The successful candidate must be available to take-up the offer of the Project Studio from 1st April 2011.
The application form is available from www.templebargallery.com/studios.htm#curator. Alternatively, you can contact Rayne Booth at TBG&S rayne [at] templebargallery [dot] com or tel. + 353 1 671 0073.
Selection
All applications will be placed before a selection panel comprising a sub-committee of the Board and an independent external adjudicator. The panel relies on the material you submit in your application to make the decision. It is important therefore to ensure that your application follows closely the guidelines set out in the application form. The selection panel will give consideration to the proposal, quality of work and CV/experience.
