Jennifer Wroblewski will discuss her forthcoming installation at the A.C. Institute, and its place within the broader context of her recent work. Her presentation will address the impact of intention on process and the ways in which her own intentions and processes come together (and compete) in the making of new work.

The artist will discuss her efforts to produce meaningful new work within a curatorial climate that emphasizes “projects” and “proposals.” How important is it for an artist to frame her work to be understood within these terms? How much can and should the curatorial climate impact the intention and process of the individual artist?

Jennifer Wroblewski is a New York based visual artist whose work consists mainly of monumentally scaled drawing and drawing installations. She is motivated by the pleasure of mark-making. She is interested in drawing as both performance and expression. Her work exalts the peculiar properties of drawing as relics of the physical act of drawing.
